Classes
progress from basic rope work to advanced anchors, belays, ascending and
descending systems. Self-rescue and patient-rescue techniques are instructed
in problem solving scenarios. Field exercises include rescuer safety,
team management and require field expedient techniques. Course content
includes water dynamics, advanced boat and shore based water rescue operations,
navigating obstacles and water hazards, patient packaging and extraction,
prevention and treatment environmental medical conditions such as near
drowning and hypothermia, first-responder care for traumatic injuries
and basic boat handling.
Note: Meets NFPA 1670 and
1006 standards for technical water and rope rescue.
Background:
This course was specifically developed to meet the challenges faced by
a continual and growing terrorist threat. Past clients have included DOD
SOF, Governmental SWAT and Special Response Units, NATO and other allied
forces, and fortune 500 corporations. Course length and content can be
adjusted to meet unit specific needs. Clients required meeting NFPA and/or
OSHA standards have a minimum amount of instruction hours regardless of
experience level.
